Simple Sentence Writing Prompts Journal: Daily Sentence Writing for K and 1st

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

Getting a 5 year old to write a whole sentence can feel like a big ask. This journal makes it small and doable, 1 sentence starter at a time.

This simple sentence writing journal gets kindergarten and first grade students writing every day. Each page has a sentence starter to trace, a line to finish the sentence, and a box to draw a picture that matches. The prompts use color words, number words, and common sight words, so beginning writers can stretch out words and write on their own without getting overwhelmed. Print the pages front to back and staple or bind them into a journal students keep all year.
