Weekly Sight Word Practice Worksheets: 30 Weeks of Dolch Words in Elkonin Boxes

Monday, November 19, 2012

Friends, listen: sight words stick when kids see them the same way, week after week. This weekly sight word practice gives your class 1 sheet a week and 1 simple routine, so the words become automatic.

Weekly sight word practice worksheets with Dolch words written in Elkonin boxes

What is in it

  • 30 weekly practice sheets, 1 for every week of the school year
  • 10 words on each sheet
  • Weeks 1 and 2 cover number words and color words, then the Dolch words take over
  • 33 pages, printable PDF

Why Elkonin boxes

Each word gets written letter by letter into Elkonin boxes. Kids have to look closely at every letter, which is exactly what tricky, irregular words need. It builds reading by sight and spelling at the same time. You can see the sheets in the Weekly Sight Word Practice preview on TPT.

How to use it

Hand out the new sheet on Monday for morning work or bellwork, keep it in a literacy center during the week, or send it home as weekly sight word homework. It fits kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade.

What teachers are saying

It holds 5 stars from 17 ratings.

"The weekly practice sheets thoroughly helped my students learn their no-excuse words. Thank you!"
