Sentence Writing Checklist: Self Editing Checklist for K and 1st

Thursday, August 25, 2016

"Did you check your work?" means a lot more when students know what to check. This checklist uses pictures, so even your youngest writers can check on their own.

This sentence writing checklist helps kindergarten and 1st grade students check their own writing before they turn it in. Picture cues show each step: a capital letter at the start, spaces between words, punctuation at the end, neat handwriting, and a sentence that makes sense. Hang the anchor chart, then print the small checklists on sticky notes or cardstock for every desk, writing folder, or adhesive pocket.
